Stones and Stone Walls

For the past thirty years, in between more political and demanding images, I have woven tapestries of stone walls or stones lying scattered on the ground. These tapestries give me a chance to play with colour and texture and movement in an abstract way. The images come from photos taken while travelling in Japan, South America, and Israel, and from walks around Vancouver and hiking in the canyons of the American Southwest. I love the subtle variations in tone and the often surprising warm colours of the stones and the way that small green plants can flourish in this harsh but beautiful environment.
