These three tapestries were woven in 1994 for a show dealing with Canadian soldiers as peacekeepers. The show never happened.
The central figure in Somalia is a wrapped body in a wheelbarrow waiting for burial. The dead birds in Rwanda and Bosnia are also waiting for burial. Their deaths by a domestic cat that did not need to hunt for food are as senseless as the deaths of millions of humans during war and famine. Canada has sent relief supplies to all three of these countries yet people still die of hunger and exposure. Canada has sent peacekeeping forces to all three of these war zones and yet the killing continues.
