Soon after the birth of my son, I realized I could not find my former artisitic creativity. Another being controlled my thoughts and actions and took all my energy and attention. Rather than fight this fate, I decided to embrace it and make it art. The “Icon” series was the result. I have taken the daily tasks performed by all new mothers and raised their status. These thankless tasks have become medieval icons of worship: The dry diaper, the clean bib, the mittens that are never lost, the favourite toy, all these speak of mother love. Women’s work keeps the world going round.
